2025
At Mitsubishi Electric Europe UK Branch, we are committed to empowering young people with the skills, confidence and opportunities needed to shape a more sustainable future.
This year (2025), we were proud to partner with the Engineering Development Trust (EDT) to deliver our first Bronze Industrial Cadets Programme, supporting six enthusiastic Year 8 students (aged 12–13) from a local school as they embarked on an exciting challenge: to design their own sustainable theme park.

Over a 12‑week period, mentors from Mitsubishi Electric Europe UK Branch worked closely with the students, providing guidance, technical insight and encouragement at key stages of their project.
The teams explored real‑world challenges linked to sustainability — from energy‑efficient ride design to waste reduction strategies and environmental impact — helping them develop not only practical STEM skills but also teamwork, communication and creative problem‑solving abilities.
The programme culminated in a regional celebration event hosted by EDT, where the students presented their concepts, complete with a website, physical model and formal pitch. Their dedication and imagination shone through, impressing a panel of judges and an audience of more than 200 attendees.
We were delighted when the team received the “People’s Choice” Award, voted for by event participants, and were also named runners‑up for “Project of the Year” — an outstanding achievement that reflects the quality of their work.
Reflecting on the experience, mentor Gary Pulley said:
“We are super proud of the girls who put together a great project. It was great working alongside them — they are so inspiring! Hats off too to my fellow mentors who joined me in the Q&A session, where we spoke to the young people about Mitsubishi Electric and how we are working together to make changes for the better.”
This initiative forms part of Mitsubishi Electric’s ongoing commitment to education, community engagement and supporting the engineers and innovators of tomorrow. Through partnerships like this, we aim to inspire more young people — especially girls — to explore future careers in engineering and sustainability.
