Mitsubishi Electric Europe UK Branch colleagues across the branch volunteered over two weekends in November to support two Special Olympics GB (SOGB) athletics events in Staffordshire and London.

Team Mitsubishi Electric contributed to a wide range of duties, including athlete registration, managing the information desk, escorting participants to their events, recording results and assisting with prize giving. The experience brought colleagues together from different departments, helping to build teamwork, deepen understanding and strengthen our sense of community across the branch.

Reflecting on the activity, Jennine Carpenter from Living Environment Systems division shared her experience: “My role for the day was assisting with athlete registration for the track events. The passion, determination and joy displayed by the athletes were nothing short of inspiring. It reminded me that the Special Olympics is not just about sports—it’s about empowerment, inclusion, and celebrating every individual’s ability.” Her words capture the spirit of the event and the positive impact it had on both volunteers and athletes.
